The racing world lost a true great on Friday with the passing of Hall of Famer A.P. Indy at the place he called home for most of his 31 years – Lane’s End.

Indy was bred by Lane’s End impresario Will Farish and W.S. Kilroy.
Just a couple of months after his half-brother Summer Squall (by Storm
Bird) captured the Preakness (G1), the handsome dark bay topped the Keeneland July Sale – and the 1990 yearling market – when commanding $2.9 million.
North
America’s Horse Of The Year in 1992, the son of Seattle Slew won eight
of 11 starts with his four G1 victories including both the G1 Breeders’
Cup Classic and G1 Belmont Stakes.
An equally successful sire, A.
P. Indy went on to top North America’s General Sires List twice, and he
left behind more than 150 stakes winners, including champions
Mineshaft, Bernardini, Tempera, Rags To Riches and Honor Code.
